SUFFERING WITH SPINAL PAIN?

EXPERIENCE RELIEF TODAY

Back pain is one of the more common injuries many of us suffer from. It is estimated that 80% of people will experience some form of back pain in their lifetimes. This becomes a problem if we start to experience it regularly, more frequently or more severely.

If you are experiencing a back complaint, and it doesn't seem to be getting better, we'd love to help figure out what the problem is and what we can do to fix it. Schedule an appointment to meet with the doctor and learn more.

SPINE: Welcome

HEAD AND NECK

With all the time we spend looking down at our cell phone or computer, it's no wonder we have a rise in neck-related complaints. The head alone weighs about 8-15 pounds. When we bend our head forward, that weight increases significantly. For every degree of forward head bending, the weight increases, reaching up to 70 pounds near end-range flexion.

This means more load or stress is placed on the back of our neck - such as the muscles, joints, and ligaments supporting it - when we have poor posture or repetitive, chronic injury (damage happening slowly over time). This can often be the cause of headaches, especially if you feel a neck ache right before getting one. Often times this means the suboccipital (base of skull) muscles are over-active. Adjustments are one of the best treatments to relieve neck pain and tightness.

COMMON CAUSES OF NECK PAIN:

  • Trauma, such as Whiplash

  • Sleeping Position

  • Repetitive Stress

  • Poor posture

  • Abnormalities in the bone structure

  • Joint and Ligament Issues

  • Muscle Strains and Pulls

We specialize in identifying why the pain is present, what structures might be involved, and ways to correct it. Want relief from constant neck pain? Call our office or schedule online to learn more. All new patients receive a free case review to determine whether or not chiropractic care is right for you.

UPPER AND MIDDLE BACK

"I have a pain right between my shoulder blades," is one of the more common things we hear when people come in with middle back (thoracic spine) pain. Often times people have poor mobility in this area, which is further complicated by scapular motion (shoulder blades) and how we use our arms.

When our joints function as they were designed to and we maintain proper posture and form (by correcting movement patterns and muscle activity- affecting the brain and nervous system to relearn normal) much of this pain resolves on its own.

COMMON CAUSES OF UPPER AND MIDDLE BACK PAIN:

  • Lack of Mobility

  • Scapular Dysfunction

  • Over-active Muscles (Trigger Points)

  • Poor Posture

  • Rib Subluxation

LOW BACK PAIN

If you've suffered from lower back pain, you know it can be one of the most difficult things to deal with because of it's impact on our daily lives. It can be so debilitating that it's hard to perform any movement - sitting, walking, standing, bending, twisting, you name it. That is why it is so important to deal with low back pain early, when it's not as severe, to prevent it from becoming a major issue that causes daily pain.

COMMON CAUSES OF LOWER BACK PAIN:

  • Daily, repetitive stress such as sitting, bending, or standing for long periods.

  • Trauma or Injury

  • Disc-related pain

  • Sciatica and Nerve Pain

  • Pelvic Dysfunction

  • Muscle Strain

When patients come to us with lower back pain our goal is to get them relief and decrease pain as soon as possible. We also work on improving tissue integrity and strengthening the back, which will help prevent future flare-ups.
